A Clowder of Cats

Our three lovely ladies, Olivia, Emma and Amelia, decided to make mischief when I got home this afternoon. One of them (or possible all three, they've been known to collaborate when getting food is their goal) knocked over the food bag and spilled tiny kitty kibbles on the laundry room floor. I thought it would be fun to let them 'go fishing' and grab at the food pieces from under the laundry room door. I also thought it'd be funny if I filmed it.

Yesterday we bought the cats a new toy - the HEXBUG Aquabot Fish. It's a robotic fish that swims in water. They were all fascinated after we put the little gold fish in a bowl of water, Emma especially. We let them play with the fish this afternoon and Emma tried really hard to catch it! It looked like she was bobbing for him, she got water all over her chin and up her nose!

There are many toys our cats love to play with. Catnip mice and other animals (they have eight mice, two socktopuses, two snakes and three fish), string, straws, foil balls, baby tennis balls, a kong for cats and a SlimCat ball. We've even played with bubbles!

When Kenneth and I moved to Columbus in the summer of 2010, we were eager to discover everything the city has to offer - especially its parks!  The Columbus Metro Parks include seventeen different parks (with a new park, Rocky Fork, currently being developed), all with plenty of hiking trails and interesting habitats.  Kenneth set a goal for us, to visit all of the Metro Parks before he graduates from veterinary school in the spring of 2014.  We visited several parks shortly after our move, some of them for the first time during the Metro Parks extremely popular Winter Hike series (which we plan to participate in again this winter!).

Sharon Woods, however, was the last park we needed to visit.  In early September we finally made it happen!  It took three years, but we have now visited all of the Columbus Metro Parks at least once.  I really enjoyed our hike at Sharon Woods, I think we'll be back soon!
