Starliner Diner - Hilliard

Starliner Diner is a hidden gem in Hilliard!  The restaurant is tucked away in a small strip of buildings on top of a hill along Cemetery Road.  If you venture inside you'll find an eclectically decorated restaurant with a Latin-American inspired menu. The interior walls of the restaurant are brightly painted in red, yellow, blue and green.  One wall is covered with a large mural with a food/celestial theme, another wall is adorned with a collection of clocks. These fun decorations give the restaurant a casual and inviting atmosphere!

Starliner Diner's menu features breakfast foods (breakfast burritos, omelets and Cuban toast), appetizers (quesadillas, tamales, nachos, chicken wings and plantains), salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta and supper dishes. There are Cuban dishes, Mexican dishes, Italian pastas dishes and American hamburgers and fries.  The best part of the menu?  It indicates which dishes are gluten-free!  (Note: the GF notes are on the in-restaurant menu only, the online menu and the paper menu you can grab in the restaurant do not include these notes).

There are so many options (gluten-free, vegetarian and otherwise) on the menu, it took us forever to order!  Kenneth and I ate at Starliner Diner last month with my parents.  After a very long look at the menu, we decided on the Fresh Sweet Potatoes and Corn Tamales (Kenneth), the Adobo Roast Pork Loin (me), the Southwestern Veggie Salad (Mom) and the Cuban Sandwich (Dad).

Everyone really enjoyed their meals!  My mom pointed out that not only was the food delicious, but it was served in really nice sized portions.  Her and I both saved half of our meal for lunch the next day.  I have been wanting to try plantains for a long time - like everything else we had, they were awesome!  The wait staff were all very kind and helpful and we didn't have a very long wait for our food.

The Latin inspired cuisine was a nice change from restaurants we usually visit and definitely worth the drive out to Hilliard!  I hope to visit again soon - there are a lot more gluten-free items on the menu I'd like to try!
