I saw this lovely Blue-Banded Purple Wing butterfly (Myscelia cyaniris for all the Lepidoptera nerds out there!) in the South Pacific Island Biome (informally known as the 'butterfly garden' or 'butterfly room') at the Conservatory today.
We are currently in the busy season for school tours at work - 50% of all of the schools that visit us for field trips do so in May! 50%!!! Most of them are here to see one thing: the butterflies. This year's Blooms & Butterflies exhibit opened March 9 and will be on view until September 2 - it's an annual exhibit and one of the things we are best known for at the Conservatory!
