Inniswood Metro Gardens

Inniswood is one of my favorite Columbus Metro Parks!  This 123 acre metro park includes themed gardens and collections (roses, hostas, daylilies, herbs, daffodils and a rock garden) and three miles of trail, some of which pass over streams and go through wooded areas.  It's a very peaceful park, perfect for couples and families!

Kenneth and I visited again a few weekends ago and had a great time!  This year the garden theme at Inniswood, is A Beautiful Bounty, which is focused on edible plants.  We saw tons of lovely beds and large pots filled with edibles: dark green and purple kale, orange and yellow nasturtium flowers, spiky cardoon, purple basil, red and yellow stalks of Swiss chard... they were all beautiful!

This is a slideshow of our walk through the main part of the garden!

We spent a lot of time in the Sisters' Garden (named for Grace and Mary Innis who donated their home and property to the metro parks in 1972), which includes an amazing secret garden!  I felt like we had walked into a fairy tale - the low brick walls of the garden are embedded with little marbles, jewelry and quotes about gardening and nature.

This is a slideshow of the secret garden.  We found a lot of great ideas for when we have a backyard of our own!
